High Tea & History
Experience over 166 years of history at Oruawharo Homestead & Gardens. Across the weekend experience a sumptuous high tea with a delicious selection of treats accompanied by your choice of Oruawharo’s own extensive tea and coffee collection.
You can choose whether you’d like to take high tea inside the homestead itself, or upon the beautifully ornate veranda so you are able to take in the wonderful vista of the grounds and St Vincent’s Chapel.
Alongside this classic high tea, visitors will be treated to a history of the house including some fascinating and little-known World War One tales as well as taking the chance to explore the historic homestead and all of its antique and art collections at your leisure.
You are also invited to rediscover St Vincent’s Chapel. The church, originally located in the township of Takapau, has been carefully moved and restored with incredible finesse and placed upon its new foundations within the Homestead’s grounds.
High Tea and History is on offer between 10 am – 5 pm on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd September and once you've booked your tickets, visitors simply need to phone ahead to book a time they would like to visit across the weekend on 06 855 8274.
History & High Tea is part of 'The Spring Fling' - a series of standout events that capture the essence of springtime in Central Hawke’s Bay.
