CD

DECLARATION - STATE OF LOCAL EMERGENCY
Wednesday 26 June 6.36am

A local state of emergency was declared by Mayor Craig Little due to the potential risk to lives and properties.

This rain event has increased the Wairoa River level, with rainfall greater than originally forecasted. Severe weather is impacting Council's roading networks and water infrastructure.

Emergency services and WDC operations staff are out in the community.

The Wairoa War Memorial Hall is open for evacuees.

Mayor Craig Little says his heart goes out to the community, because this isn't what our people deserve after what we've been through.
