Wairoa District Council has started its recruitment for a new Chief Executive.
Current CE Kitea Tipuna announced his resignation late last year after three years in the top spot and a total of 10 years with the local authority.
Mr Tipuna wants to maintain his strong relationship with Council, saying it has been a privilege to work for the Wairoa community, but his whānau are his priority.
Recruitment company Robert Walters New Zealand is managing the recruitment process with the position currently being advertised and due to close on March 10.
The position is described as a significant leadership opportunity for someone who understands the importance of whanaungatanga (relationships) and kaitiakitanga (guardianship). Wairoa District Council is seeking a leader who can guide the organisation with a clear vision, build strong connections with the community, and ensure operational and financial integrity, while honouring the values of manaakitanga (hospitality and care) and rangatiratanga (leadership).
Wairoa Mayor Craig Little said the recruitment process is a big one, and it is important to get it right. “We are fortunate Kitea is remaining in Wairoa, and we look forward to Council having a continued relationship with him.”
