New citizens welcomed to Wairoa

citizenship

Wairoa’s growing population received another boost recently, with a group ofnew citizens welcomed to the district in a Wairoa District Council citizenship ceremony.

Now with two citizenship ceremonies hosted by the Council this year, Wairoa Mayor Craig Little said it was a privilege to welcome new citizens to the country and the Wairoa community.

The citizenship ceremony included a pre-recorded Message from Dame Cindy Kiro, The Governor-General of New Zealand, the new citizens swearing oaths and affirmations of allegiance and being presented with a certificate of citizenship.

Mr Little said it is very special to have citizens from all over the world choosing to make their home in Wairoa.

“We welcome you all and look forward to being part of each other's communities," Mr Little says.
