The Wairoa District Council met today and confirmed its support for the Crown’s funding offer, which would see the Government providing the Hawke’s Bay region with significant financial support for flood protection, transport infrastructure, and the voluntary buyout of residential Category 3 properties.
As the Crown’s offer would provide funding to all five Hawke’s Bay Councils, the region still needs to unanimously agree for the deal to be finalised. Further Council meetings are scheduled to take place later this week, and we look forward to confirming the outcome of those meetings and providing further information to our communities in due course.
