Feedback on policy welcomed

DIABP Website Banner

Wairoa District Council is seeking public feedback on its Dangerous, Affected and Insanitary Buildings Policy.

The policy outlines the process for identifying buildings that pose a public safety or health risk and what actions are required to mitigate the risk they pose to public health and safety.

The general direction of the policy has not been changed, but some minor changes, based on wording improvements and updates, have been proposed.

The Building Act 2004 requires every territorial authority to have a policy to manage dangerous, affected and insanitary buildings.  Councils are required to review the policy at least every five years and consult on any changes.

The council encourages members of the public to provide feedback on the proposed changes. The consultation period is open until July 26.

To provide feedback, please head to the Wairoa District Council website https://consultations.wairoadc.govt.nz/dangerous-affected-and-insanitary-building-policy-2024 and use the online submission form or print copies are available at the Wairoa District Council offices.
