The Clyde Road Dairy is expanding with a new takeaway menu.
The popular dairy is already well-known for bringing a taste of India to the neighbourhood, offering butter chicken, lamb and chicken samosas, and mango and strawberry lassi.
Now, a new takeaway menu is available, including fish and chips, sausages, hot dogs, spring rolls, steak rolls, crab sticks, squid and pineapple rings, and burgers featuring meat, chicken or fish patties. The takeaway side of the business is open from midday to 6pm in the afternoon and evening.
Manager Raspinder Singh has been in his role for five months and describes the dairy as the hub of the community.
The convenience store caters to as many needs as possible, from everyday necessities such as bread and milk to drinks, grocery products, and a range of cleaning supplies. However, as the shop has a no-cigarette policy, there are no cigarettes for sale.
The dairy also has a range of Indian food ingredients, and a popular drawcard is the lolly bag selection.
In addition to the takeaways and Indian food selection, there is a range of Big Ben pies and other hot snacks.
Clyde Road Dairy is owned by the same owner as the Marine Parade business Wairoa Pizza and Kebabs, which also specialises in a vast range of takeaways from Indian cuisine, burgers, pizzas, kebabs, and desserts and features an online order and delivery service.
Moving directly from India to Wairoa, Raspinder says he enjoys the small town and likes that it is quiet and does not have too many people. “I enjoy the local customers, and Wairoa is a friendly town.”
