Survey work on the Wairoa River will be taking place next week.
The specialised ‘bathymetrical’ survey involves scanning the riverbed and banks to create a 3D model of the underwater environment.
This modelling then feeds into flood modelling for the Wairoa area and will go towards better understanding the river environment and highlighting any issues.
The specialised work is expected to start on Monday and take around a week.
Gathering the information will involve specialised equipment and a boat on the river.
Local people are urged to support this vital work and please respect the contractors involved.
