NZ First List MP Andy Foster caught up on what was happening in Wairoa during a visit last week.
The former Wellington Mayor met with Wairoa Mayor Craig Little and Deputy Mayor Denise Eaglesome-Karekare and had a quick trip around town before going onto other meetings.
The visit was intel gathering on issues and opportunities in the Wairoa district.
Mr Foster is a spokesperson for housing, local government, education, conservation, Civil Defence, democracy, Government and Electoral Affairs, Science and Innovation, Sports and Outdoor Recreation and Chairman of the Transport and Infrastructure Select Committee.
Mayor Craig Little thanked Mr Foster for making the trip and providing Wairoa with an opportunity to highlight challenges being faced, particularly off the back of two flood events, and the impacts on road connectivity, health services and landfill management. Discussions also included opportunities that the district has in front of it including training and upskilling and making the most of Wairoa’s natural attributes.
