The North Clyde River Parade reserve area is in for a spruce-up.
Wairoa District Council had previously secured central government funding for the project, which will include new toilets, seating, and a facelift.
The aim is to transform the reserve into a hub with picnic tables, landscaping, a sun shelter and improved parking. The area is already used by mobile businesses, and it is hoped the revamp will complement the existing use and grow the area.
In line with the anticipated growth of mobile businesses, the Council is also reviewing its approach to trading in public places and occasional food premises to ensure it is fit for purpose.
Elected members welcomed the opportunity to upgrade the area, saying the funding and project will boost the North Clyde side of town, providing improved facilities for locals and visitors.
