It was a very Merry Christmas in the township of Wairoa on Saturday with hundreds of people flocking to the Christmas market and parade.
With beach ball sized candyfloss, entertainment and stalls, including the popular gumboot throw, the market morning had something for everyone.
The midday parade got the main street buzzing as local businesses, groups and providers joined the parade in their Kiwiana theme.
Best float winners on the day were first place to Wairoa Playcentre, second place QRS and third place to the Wairoa Young Achievers Trust.
Wairoa Mayor Craig Little extended a big thank you to everyone who joined in the market and parade acknowledging the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make the event successful. “Also, a big thank you to all those people who turned out to support the market and parade. Thank you to the Council staff for organising the events and the Todd Foundation and ECCT which made a financial contribution towards some of the costs.”
