Work is now underway to clear the large slip blocking Special Purpose 38 Road, 14km north of Aniwaniwa.
It is not known when the slip will be fully cleared.
The slip came down on a remote part of SP38 Road on Tuesday.
The road will remain closed at Aniwaniwa and road information signs stating the road is closed are still on display at Frasertown and at the Whakatane end of the slip.
Updates on road closure will be communicated as we get more information, but at this stage closed until further notice.
Council will update the public on the expected duration of this closure once more information comes to hand.
