Despite a great presentation Adventure Wairoa did not pick up any awards at the Trustpower Community Awards on Saturday.
Wairoa Mayor Craig Little said Wairoa was well represented by Russell McCracken and Leigh Aitken, on behalf of Adventure Wairoa.
“Their presentation was excellent and while unfortunately, the adventure sport group did not win an award everyone was amazed at what they have achieved within such a small timeframe.”
Mr Little said he was also very proud to have Wairoa woman Susan Tipuna open and close the awards ceremony.
“Susan is an amazing iconic woman and it is her wow factor that was the catalyst for her to be invited to open close the awards this year.”
Last year Susan represented Kura Precious Ones Special Needs Support Group and was awarded the Trustpower Whetū Mātaiata Award in recognition of the group’s potential.
