Putere Road reopening this afternoon

IMG 1505

Putere Road will reopen this afternoon at 3pm after Fulton Hogan crews have been working to repair the damage to the road after last week’s dropout.

The dropout section has a history of slipping, and contractor Fulton Hogan has had a local crew working at the site. After last week's dropout the road had to be closed.

Fulton Hogan have been working to stabilise the bottom of the slip since last week and have started to build up the new part of the road.

Mike Hardie, Wairoa District Council's Operations Engineer for Roads said that it was important to get the bottom stabilised so that the remaining road above would be safe for traffic.

The road will be open to all vehicles from 3pm this afternoon but remains single lane only."

Fulton Hogan are now back on track with the original work schedule for this site.

Work to continue rebuilding this section of the road is being carried out and Fulton Hogan is aiming to have the site completed by Easter.
