Following recent inspections of Patangata Bridge at the end of Whakaki Lagoon Road, it has been decided that due to further damage and structural problems that this bridge will be restricted to pedestrian and motorbike access only.
Bridge engineers from Opus are currently working on a plan to repair this damage.
A previous three tonne limit appears to have failed in preventing further damage.
This is a necessary step that needs to be taken. Safety measures will be put in place to prevent heavier vehicles crossing Patangata Bridge.
