Wairoa District Council wins ALGIM Awards

ALGIM

The Wairoa District Council has been recognised with two awards from the recent ALGIM awards.

ALGIM is the National Association of Local Government Information Management and represents the national and international interests in ICT, IT roles, IT infrastructure, web and digital, information and records management, customer service, and GIS within Councils across the country.

The Wairoa District Council was recognised for its joint efforts alongside the rest of Hawke’s Bay’s Councils by winning the Best Digital Project award. This award acknowledged the development of the regional website which was adopted by all of Hawke’s Bay’s Councils.

The Wairoa District Council also received the Most Improved Best Customer Service Experience Award this year.

Chief Executive Steven May says that he was extremely pleased that Council has been recognised with these awards and it is testament to all the work and effort that has been carried out by our staff.

“We’ve spent a lot of time working on improvements in these areas and it’s so awesome that we’ve won these awards. It’s true validation for all our efforts.”

“The ALGIM Awards are hotly contested by Councils throughout the country and I’m over the moon that we’ve been able to scoop these awards.”

“I know that our staff spent a lot of time on developing our new website alongside the other Councils in Hawke’s Bay and this award recognises not only our efforts, but the efforts of our whole region in showing that we can all work together to deliver a great website experience for our ratepayers and community.”

“Judges noted that the Hawke’s Bay Councils who worked together showed that they were able to really collaborate as a team and their approach demonstrated that they committed to putting customers at the centre of every decision.”

“Auckland Council were runner up in this category and this to me showed that although we might have been a smaller team with less resources, our customer-centric and collaborative approach won out in the end.”

“The Best Customer Experience Award is a really cool surprise. We’ve spent a lot of time and effort in being customer-centric and being focused on delivering a great customer experience for our ratepayers and our wider community. All credit to Group Manager Kimberley Tuapawa for leading this project and to all the members of her team for delivering.”

“What is really great about this particular award is that it is judged based on “Mystery Shoppers” who contact all Councils in New Zealand and rank their experience as a customer.”

“Customers themselves have judged that the Wairoa District Council of any other Council in the country had the most improved and best customer experience and this is just great to have won this award.”

“I want to acknowledge all our staff who have worked to achieve these great outcomes.”
