Incumbent Wairoa District Council chief executive Steven May has been reappointed to the Council top spot.
The reappointment was resolved at last Tuesday’s Council meeting with councillors voting unanimously to reappoint Mr May.
Wairoa Mayor Craig Little praised Mr May’s standard of work over the past two years.
“We have seen millions of dollars of Central Government funding invested in Wairoa, a population increase and some excellent collaborative efforts with local iwi and other organisations.
“Steven has led the Council though these areas of growth while also consolidating our staffing base and introducing efficiencies wherever possible.
“He also showed his depth of knowledge and experience over the past weeks leading Council though the COVID-19 pandemic, and ensuring we are delivering essential services.
“The aftermath of COVID-19 will be incredibly challenging, and I am confident we have a CEO at the helm who will help navigate us through these turbulent times.”
