More than 100 submissions relating to the Wairoa District Council rates review proposal have been lodged.
Council staff and elected members have been engaging with the community over the past weeks seeking feedback on what ratepayers think about the rating model proposals.
Wairoa Mayor Craig Little is pleased that submissions are coming in and reminds people it is not too late to have a say.
“The only way we can be guided is to hear the opinion of the people and I thank everyone who has made a submission.
“And it’s not too late to lodge your thoughts, with submissions closing at 4.30pm on Friday (Dec 4).”
The submissions will then be considered by Council and a hearing process for those who would like to speak to their submission will be held on December 15 and 16.
Council’s deliberations will be made on December 22 based on the submissions and community feedback from the engagement meetings and caravan sessions.
Submissions have now closed.
