Distinct elements of our district will be celebrated in a beautiful mural decorating the walkway linking Marine Parade with the Clyde Court carpark.
Part of Upstream Wairoa Inc’s ‘Art in Empty Spaces’ project, the mural is an update on work originally carried out by Road Safe Hawke’s Bay.
WDC Economic Development Officer Roz Thomas said the new project is being led by YROA YNOT! Youth Voice, with the brief to engage local, talented youth to create a mural relevant to our district.
“It is a main access walkway which is used daily by many people, and more fresh, local artwork adds to the interest and attraction of the town.
“The artwork will incorporate all the communities of our district, highlighting main features from each and our beautiful natural surroundings,” Mrs Thomas said.
A group of Wairoa College girls along with artists Nolan Maru and Jacob Chrisohoou will be heading the project, which began today.
