|
21 votes received (40.38%) |
AGAINST the closure of the Māhanga Water Supply | 31 votes received (59.61)% |

Under the Local Government Act 2002, where a water service is to be closed, a binding referendum must be held with electors in the water supply area. A threshold of 75% of votes cast is required for the water service to close. This threshold was NOT achieved as only 40.38% of the votes cast favoured the closure.
