FAWC event sold out

2021 09 21a

Tickets to Wairoa’s latest summer food and wine event sold out in just 48 hours.

The FAWC (Food and Wine Classic) event is scheduled for Sunday November 14 at Kaiuku Marae.

Wairoa joined the Hawke’s Bay FAWC event with its inaugural Taste of Wairoa – a sellout event held at the Gaiety Theatre in June.

Wairoa District Council chief executive Kitea Tipuna said the Mahia event will feature pioneering restaurateur Fleur Sullivan of Fleur’s Place and her talented, up-and coming chef Lyall Minhinnick who was recently one of three finalists nationwide in the Beef and Lamb’s Young Ambassador Competition.

The cuisine will focus on a range of kaimoana and beef-inspired dishes.

“We are thrilled these FAWC events are so popular with our local people. It is unfortunate that due to COVID-19 restrictions we have had to limit the tickets to 100. We hope to be able to bring more of these types of events to our district in the future and hopefully, as restrictions ease, cater for more people.”
