Wairoa’s connectivity has been given a boost with the Intercity Bus service back running every day.
The bus service had been reduced due to COVID restrictions which meant the Napier to Gisborne route, including Wairoa, was only operational from Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays and Mondays.
Changing COVID restrictions and summertime traffic will now see the bus return to its everyday Napier to Gisborne route.
The service will remain seven days a week until March when it will be reviewed.
Wairoa District Council chief executive Kitea Tipuna encourages people to use the bus service.
“If we want to continue to be able to utilise this public service, we need to show that it is being well used. I know Wairoa people are appreciative of the support that Intercity Bus has shown our town, despite the difficult trading conditions, and I hope our local people will reciprocate that support by utilising this service.”
For bookings call into the Wairoa i-Site Information Centre on Paul Street or phone 06 838 7440.
