Preparatory wastewater main work to begin

Destination Playground 2

Investigation and survey work will take place in Paul Street, River Parade and around the Destination Playground on Wednesday and Thursday, September 21 and 22.

The work is in preparation for the replacement of a wastewater main from the Alexandra Pump Station and the North Clyde Pump Station to the Lucknow Street/Paul Street intersection.

Traffic management will be in place while the work is undertaken. The playground car park and the laneway near the old Westpac bank will be closed for a small period of time.

The work will involve hydrovac excavation, using pressurised water to break up the soil, which is then vacuumed up, of small sections of the roadway and areas around the playground. This will help determine the exact location of services so surveying can be carried out. All excavations will be fully reinstated.

The replacement work is planned for the start of the new year.

Wairoa District Council thanks members of the public for their patience while this work is carried out.
