With just days left until voting closes in this year’s Local Body election voting returns are slightly up on this time last year.
As at this afternoon (Monday October 3) 26.1% of voter returns had been received, up slightly on the 2019 return figure of 25.2% for the same period.
A breakdown of returns shows that 29.6% of voting papers have been received for the General Ward and 21.2% for the Māori ward.
Of the total 5563 eligible electors, 1450 returns have been processed.
Voting papers need to be returned by midday this Saturday, October 8. Due to mail delays voters are now urged to please drop their completed voting papers into the secure voting box at the Wairoa District Council, rather than relying on the postal system.
Anyone who would like to vote but hasn’t received their voting papers should call into the Wairoa District Council office on Queen Street or contact the electoral officer, Juanita Savage, by phoning 06 838 7309, so a special vote can be arranged.
