Mayor Craig Little invites you to a one-hour Youth Employment Programme workshop

Youth

Employers, principals and college personnel, tertiary education providers, whānau, iwi and community organisations are invited to a one-hour session to learn about the Licence to Work programme co-developed with employers and other stakeholders and achieving great results around NZ over the past two years.

The Wairoa Young Achievers Trust has a focus on workforce development for growing sub-regional industries.

It has partnered with COMET (Auckland) to bring the Licence to Work programme here.

Licence to Work programmes depend on good co-operation among colleges, educators, employers and iwi/community organisations. The approach combines theory with applied practice in real workplaces and in community service, with the student’s specific employability skills supported and rated by their in-work supervisors.

If you care about young people, want to help them grow and build work-ready skills, come along and learn more from Shirley Johnson, Skills Manager, COMET Auckland. Hear how other communities have tailored the programme to suit local industries and organisations.

Further information on YEP: http://bit.ly/28Mn0Qn or contact James Baty: james@wairoadc.govt.nz or 027 392 9029.

The workshop will be held on Wednesday, May 10, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm at Wairoa College.
