Graduates celebrated their qualifications at the Wairoa Industry Training graduation ceremony held just before Christmas.

More than 20 local people were congratulated on their training achievements at a ceremony held by the Wairoa District Council as part of the Mayors’ Taskforce for Jobs programme.

Wairoa Mayor Craig Little congratulated the graduates who had gained qualifications over the past couple of years ranging from the retail and agriculture to health and wellbeing and automotive engineering.

"It is great to see Wairoa growing its own skillbase. I particularly acknowledge the effort made by these graduates to upskill themselves. It is a real tribute to their effort and determination, and at the end of the day our whole community benefits by having upskilled people working throughout different industries across our communities.
