Traffic disruptions and road closures will occur on the Tiniroto Road while pavement renewal takes place between Tiniroto and Ruakituri from next Tuesday (Feb 7).
The work is a Gisborne District Council project which is being carried out by Fulton Hogan and is expected to take four to five weeks, depending on the weather.
The pavement renewal will be completed in two sections to try and minimise disruption to the Tiniroto and Ruakituri communities.
There will be times during the first two weeks of work when it is likely both sections of the road will be closed while drainage and vegetation removal takes place.
Section 1 – Road Closure will be 200m from 5510 Tiniroto Road on the Wairoa side, extending 1.5km towards Wairoa.
Section 2 – Road Closure will be directly after the driveway for 4875 Tiniroto Road on the Wairoa side, extending 2.3km towards Wairoa.
From Tuesday, February 7, 2023 until Tuesday, March 14, 2023 (weather depending) road closures are likely to be (Monday to Friday) as follows:
Unfortunately detour routes are limited, and very long. The options are:
Wairoa towards Gisborne via State Highway 2 then left at the Waipaoa roundabout on to Tiniroto Road and reverse to return.
Tiniroto Road Southwest to Frasertown Road/Te Urewera Rainforest Route for 6.7km to Mahia Ave Wairoa and reverse to return.
There will be traffic controllers onsite to support the work and keep the public safe.
Thank you to everyone for their patience while this work is rolled out. If anyone has any queries please contact the Gisborne District Council.
