ANZAC Day commemorations

06 poppy

Plans for local ANZAC Day commemorations are underway.

ANZAC Day, Tuesday, April 25, is a special day when New Zealanders can officially remember and acknowledge those who have gone before us.

Local commemorations will begin with the Kaiuku Marae, Mahia dawn service from 5.45am followed by the Frasertown Civic Service at 9am, the Taihoa Marae service at 9.30am and the Wairoa Civic Service at 11am.

Wairoa Mayor Craig Little said personally, ANZAC Day is a very significant time for him, and a time when he reflects on the service that members of his family, and all those other families, unselfishly gave for their country.

“ANZAC Day is a time when people can pay their tributes and remember those who went before us. It is about commemorating those who served and died in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations and the contribution and suffering of all those who have served.”
