Heavy rain overnight on Tuesday has impacted several Marine Parade businesses.
Wairoa District Council was alerted to some shop flooding early on Tuesday morning and has been monitoring the situation.
Wairoa Civil Defence Controller Juanita Savage said while the rain has been welcomed by the dried out rural sector, it can also cause anxiety because of the flood events that Wairoa has been through in the past 18 months to two years.
“Wairoa received heavy rainfall overnight on Tuesday with a heavy rain watch in place until tomorrow (Wednesday) evening. Council has been on the ground and monitoring the surface flooding.”
If anyone is concerned about potential flooding, please ring the Council 24/7 phone number 06 838 7309.
