Wairoa District Council resolves that rates (other than water by meter targeted rates) will be invoiced in quarterly instalments over the whole of the district.

Rates - due dates for payment

Rates, other than water by meter targeted rates, are invoiced in quarterly instalment. Due dates for payment are:

1 1 July to 30 September 20 September 2024
2 1 October to 31 December 20 November 2024
3 1 January to 31 March 20 February 2025
4 1 April to 30 June 20 May 2025

Ratepayers are entitled to pay the whole or any part of subsequent instalments of rates for the rating year in addition to the amount now due.

Rates - penalties

A charge of 10 per cent will be added to any portion of rates which remains unpaid after the due date of each instalment. The penalty will be added on the following dates:

Metered Water - due dates for payment

Metered Water - penalties

Penalties will be added to unpaid water by meter rates on the following dates:

4 21 June 2025

A further penalty of 10% will be added to any portion of rates or metered water unpaid (including previously applied penalties) in previous financial years which are still unpaid by 1 July 2025. This penalty will be added on 2 July 2025.

Payment rates

Rates can be paid at Council's office, located on Coronation Square, Queen Street, Wairoa between 8.00am and 4.30pm Monday to Friday (except public holidays or otherwise notified).

Cash or EFTPOS

Direct Debit

  • Weekly or fortnightly payments every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday night.
  • Monthly payments every 20th of the month
  • Three monthly payments every due date
  • Annually on 20th August

Automatic Payment or Direct Credit

  • Weekly, fortnightly, monthly or three monthly payment on a day suitable to your banking needs.

Penalties

A 10% penalty will be added to any portion of the current instalment of rates not paid on or before the due date.

A second penalty of 10% will be added to all rates, charges and penalties not paid by 2 July 2025.
