Where to Recycle unwanted items

Free Collection Points at WDC Office

We are now a collection point for Household Batteries, Vapes, and Mobile Phones & Chargers.

Drop off your used items at our Queen Street Office for free recycling and help us protect the environment!

Household Batteries

Please never dispose of batteries in your regular rubbish bin. Damaged batteries in waste trucks can cause fires or explosions when in contact with moisture. Drop off your used and unwanted batteries at our collection bin and we’ll send them to an e-waste recycler for responsible recycling.

Vapes

Vapes are electronic waste. The batteries inside can cause fires in waste or recycling trucks if damaged or exposed to moisture.
Please drop off your used vapes at our collection point for safe disposal and recycling by an e-waste recycler.

If you must vape, consider switching to refillable vapes instead of disposables to cut down on waste. Every little bit helps!

Mobile Phones & Chargers

All phones and chargers are sent to e-waste recyclers. Phones at the end of their life are broken down into components, with 95% of materials recovered.

Working phones are data-wiped and resold to businesses specialising in second-hand phones.

For Every Phone Recycled with RE:mobile, a Donation Goes to Sustainable Coastlines!
Sustainable Coastlines is a multi-award-winning New Zealand charity focused on protecting our oceans by reducing plastic pollution and litter.

Before donating your phone:

Disconnect from any cloud service and perform a factory reset.
Remove your SIM card (keep it).
Leave the battery in.
Power off the device.
